Alexandria Port, October 2025 — Egyptian Global Logistics (EGL) successfully completed the transport of Egypt’s first Siemens high-speed train, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s modern rail transformation.
The Desiro EGY, designed by Siemens Mobility for the Egyptian National Railways’ new high-speed network, represents the next generation of electric multiple units (EMU) — capable of operating at speeds up to 160 km/h while setting new standards for passenger comfort, efficiency, and safety.
Following its arrival at Alexandria Port in September 2025, EGL executed the overland delivery to Greater Cairo using its specialized heavy transport axle line fleet. The operation was carried out under full security and police escort, following meticulous route surveys, engineering assessments, and coordination with national authorities — ensuring compliance with the highest safety and operational standards.
The Desiro EGY will initially serve on Egypt’s Green Line, connecting Ain Sokhna – New Administrative Capital – 6th of October – El Alamein – Marsa Matrouh. Spanning approximately 660 km, the line will link the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, creating a vital corridor for mobility, trade, and tourism.
“We are honored to contribute to such a transformative project for Egypt’s transport future,” said Eng. Medhat El Kady, CEO of EGL. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our technical teams and our continuous support for Egypt’s mega infrastructure vision.”
EGL remains committed to powering Egypt’s infrastructure renaissance, providing turnkey heavy transport, project logistics, and engineering solutions across the energy, construction, and transport sectors.
As Egypt’s high-speed rail dream continues to advance, EGL stands proud — delivering precision, partnership, and national pride.
