Dear Valued Principals, Partners, and Clients,
EGL is pleased to share an important industry update following the official announcement issued by the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and Maersk Group.
After several months of rerouting due to the Red Sea situation, Maersk has confirmed the full resumption of its vessels’ transit through the Suez Canal effective from early December 2025. This significant decision comes after a series of high-level meetings between Maersk and the SCA, during which the Authority presented enhanced security measures and operational facilities ensuring safe navigation for all vessel types.
The Suez Canal Authority has introduced incentives, including a 15% reduction on transit dues for large vessels exceeding 130,000 tons. These measures provide competitive advantages and reinforce the position of the Suez Canal as the most reliable, fastest, and safest maritime corridor for East-West trade.
Maersk has expressed its strong confidence in the Suez Canal’s capabilities and acknowledged the long-standing strategic partnership that links the two organizations. Both parties have also signed a new cooperation protocol aimed at:
- Reinstating Maersk’s regular services through the Canal
- Enhancing integrated logistical and maritime transport solutions
- Strengthening global supply chain connectivity
This development is expected to positively impact global trade flows and contribute to the stability of shipping schedules, benefiting carriers, shippers, and logistics partners worldwide.
EGL welcomes Maersk’s return to the Suez Canal
As one of Egypt’s leading shipping and logistics service providers, EGL reaffirms its commitment to supporting all shipping lines operating through the Suez Canal, providing full agency, operational, and maritime services across Egyptian ports.
We will continue to keep our partners updated with any further developments impacting navigation and trade flows in the region.
Best Regards,
EGL- Egyptian Global Logistics
